Three major headlines
Three main stories for the day.
1/ Baidu Unleashes ERNIE 4.5 & X1 at Bargain Prices
Baidu just released two new AI models - ERNIE 4.5 and X1.
The standout? ERNIE X1 apparently matches DeepSeek R1's performance at half the price.

They're making ERNIE Bot free for individual users and offering competitive pricing for developers - starting at just $0.28 per million tokens for X1's input.
Whether these models actually live up to the hype remains to be seen, but cheaper competition is good news for everyone's wallet.

2/ OpenAI: 1, Elon: 0

The court just rejected Elon's request for a preliminary injunction against OpenAI, essentially saying, "Nice try, but no."
OpenAI is throwing major shade, calling it a "ridiculous lawsuit" and claiming Elon's just mad he couldn't merge OpenAI with Tesla way back when.
They're adamant that the non-profit structure isn't going anywhere. It'll just be backed by a public-benefit corporation that will make it "one of the most well-resourced non-profits in history."
Corporate drama at its finest.

3/ Apple's Siri Team Admits They're in an "Ugly" Situation
In what sounds like the world's most uncomfortable team meeting, Apple's Siri director Robby Walker called their AI delays an "ugly" situation.
The worst part? He couldn't even promise that the missing features would make it into iOS 19 this year.
Apparently, their fancy new Siri features failed up to a third of the time in testing.
The most awkward revelation? Marketing wanted to hype features that weren't remotely ready.
At least the executives are taking "intense personal accountability" - whatever that means when you're still cashing those Apple paychecks.

🐤Tweet of the day
We’re so early. Ignore hype and focus on real use cases, like on how millions and millions of SMBs are going to adopt AI and how you are going to support that.
